Invited competition / Interpretation of the outdoor monument area.

We want to invite the visitor into a sensuous and factual insight into why UNESCO has included the site on its list of particularly worthy historical monuments. With an activity calendar and experiences that constantly change character, the guest will return to the exhibition in the center and outdoor monument area, to experience the place again.

At Kongernes Jelling, traditions must be established. An activity calendar based on the course of the year and the change of seasons. Suggested for the monument area and the roof terrace is - signage in the area, an Jelling app and an creation of the Æblelunden - establishment of a dense planting of fruit trees in collaboration with landscape architect by entrance and parking. Etablishment of an outdoor playground, workshop and café area, development of "Jelling passet" as part of the Monument area. Event kit, tools for events, augmented reality + audio link between the roof terrace and the actual monument area. In the spirit of the place and to support the status of the monuments as memorials, we have placed high demands on the level of detail and choice of materials. In our solution, we have emphasized both communicating to children and adults, as well as creating opportunities for dialogue between generations.
