The new museum of Rörstrand tells the story of how the porcelain factory Rörstrand - one of Europe's oldest porcelain factories - became an immense success. And how the artistic idea, creativity and competence, was at the heart of the success. An invaluable ceramic treasure hides in the museum storage - 300 years of turning, molding, pressing, glazing and painting.
Through the years hundred of thousands of ceramic goods have passed the hands of the employees. With an exhibition design highlightning the historical sites of the factory, considering the space as an artifact in it self, as an exhibition design that pictures the verb of the machinery. With focusing on how the artistic idea was at the core of the process and the Rörstrand success, the finished goods, the manufacturing process and the human creation process, are brought to life. A process of repetition and iteration. A museum inviting the visitors to get back stage of the process. An exhibition talking to the visitors, revealing the ceramics, acting inspiring and invites the visitor to explore the unique archives of Rörstrand. The museum also contains an exhibit hall for Contemporary ceramics - showing new generations of ceramicist.
At the Café the ceramics is used as serving goods.
